La Liga Partners with Medellín for Stadium Modernization

On September 21, La Liga and the Alcaldía de Medellín announced a significant partnership aimed at modernizing the Estadio Atanasio Girardot. This agreement positions La Liga to lend its extensive experience in sports infrastructure development to the city, focusing on enhancing the stadium's technological capabilities and overall safety.

The collaboration will provide specialized advisory services in multiple technological and operational areas. These improvements aim to create a more modern, secure, and connected venue that meets the needs of both the city and its fans. The enhancements will encompass vital elements such as connectivity, security, TV production, lighting, sound systems, and display screens, ensuring an upgraded experience for spectators.

The presentation of the agreement, which featured Medellín's Mayor Federico Gutiérrez and La Liga's General Director for South America Marc Tarradas, crowned a week of productive deliberations between La Liga and key institutions in Medellín. During this time, representatives engaged in discussions focused on the modernization project, collaborating with entities including the Empresa para la Seguridad y Soluciones Urbanas (ESU) and the Instituto de Deportes y Recreación de Medellín (INDER).

Mayor Gutiérrez emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating that the Atanasio Girardot is deserving of an upgrade befitting the city, pledging that it will remain 100% publicly owned. He advocated for leveraging both public and private sector strategies to enhance infrastructure efficiency and administration.

Marc Tarradas further highlighted the depth of La Liga's expertise in sports infrastructure modernization, reiterating the organization's commitment to integrating technology, safety, and fan experience in the project's approach.
